It really is that simple. The world has over 7 billion people in it. If you wake up in America today you are already richer than 80 percent of the worlds population. Over 3.4 billion people live in 3rd world countries and struggle to meet even the most basic human needs. Countries with no clean water, food crises, starvation, lack of access to healthcare, the threat of violence and a myriad of other problems. Over 1 billion people in the world don't even have access to a cell phone, electricity, the internet, an education….many of the things a lot of us take for granted every single day. We experience even the slightest problem in our lives and make it huge -- the term "first world problems" is way for us to laugh at ourselves about the drama in our lives compared to other countries but in all seriousness it isn't anything to laugh about. If you imagine your current problems as so catastrophic imagine how you would be if you were dropped in a third world country for a day?
According to one global economic study if you have $15 in your pocket you are richer than 90 percent of people living on earth! If you woke up today and were able to make a cup of coffee, look in a closet and decide what you were going to wear or even turn on a TV or radio then you are already richer than 3 billion other people on the planet. Let that sink in, marinate on it for awhile. In order to be happy you have to stop looking at what is missing in your life and focus on what is good. Stop taking "the little things" like a cup of coffee or your favorite yoga pants for granted. When you start to see all that you really have, all the conveniences we have available to us today, it becomes easier to lessen the burden you think you have. When you start to show gratitude for the things you already have the universe blesses you with more. If you are in a mindset of lack and discontentment, then there will never be enough in your life. Be content. Be grateful. Be happy.
